I wasn’t lucky enough to win a free ticket, but I still managed to find a ticket on Hipmunk for today’s inaugural San Francisco to Chicago flight! I’m posting this from 35,000 feet in the air on the in-flight wi-fi (usually $12.95, but free for this flight.)
There was a champagne breakfast at the gate, which our little Hipmunk gladly sampled.
The CEO of Virgin America gave a short speech in which he said he was targeting Newark (my hometown airport) for Virgin’s next new route.
They gave out VIP tags to all the passengers. 
And word is Sir Richard Branson himself is going to be greeting the plane at the gate. Stay tuned!
