Today, I got the amazing opportunity to take Virgin America’s Inaugural Flight to Palm Springs. The fun started at the gate in SFO’s beautiful Terminal 2 where we received the red carpet send-off appetizers, champagne, cosmos and were crooned by old-timey Rat Pack impersonators.
David Cush, Virgin America CEO, and Steve Pougnet, Mayor of Palm Springs, both gave speeches thanking everyone for coming along, and then Sir Richard Branson took the mic letting everyone know how excited he was to open the new route to PSP. He mentioned he’s never been to Palm Springs and joked because it’s always been so expensive! Haha, well, now that Virgin America is flying there, he’s making the trip—in style!
And here he is cutting the tape with the mayor of Palm Springs.
When our wheels touched down, the Palm Springs Fire Dept. issued a water canon salute, which is a tradition for Virgin America when launching a new route.
Another red carpet reception…
and then off to the party on the tarmac…
Cheers, and congrats Virgin!
